Hiking

Alternate route

While Nicole and Steve headed back to the car after getting soaked at the falls, Rachel and I took the long way back to the car. We started on a trail that went way up, but turned back after Rachel decided it looked too much like a good place for bears to hang out. She is quite the hiker, I hope I can still keep up with her in a couple of years.

Great adventurers

Bridlevail falls

After driving around for 2 hours (literally)trying to find a parking space in Yosemite Valley so we could climb to Lower Yosemite Falls we gave up and settled for Bridlevail Falls. By the way there is a very nice, unused parking lot on the far side of Bridlevail Falls. It worked out for the best anyway, since Nicole wasn't in much of a mood for hiking (what a surprise). Lots of road work and traffic in the valley and very little parking available. We ended up taking 140 out of the park, which was a nice change from 41. The drive along the Merced river is beautiful and much more relaxing (for me anyway, not everyone in our family appreciates the scenic detours).

Yosemite

After a morning full of mom's reckless driving, we

made it to Yosemite. The view from here doesn't hint

at the massive traffic problems that await us in Yosemite

Valley.

Bye granny and grandpa

We had a very nice week-visit with Granny Fae and Grandpa Bill. It was lucky they were here, since Rachel and I had a very bad cold, and Steve had lots of meetings this week. It was nice to have someone else around so I didn't feel guilty going to bed at 6:00. We will miss them. Rachel and Nicole loved having Grandpa take them to school each morning and walk them home in the afternoon. The puppies loved having them around all day so they could hang out in the house.

Forestiere's underground gardens

We didn't want granny and grandpa to get bored so we headed to the
underground gardens for the afternoon last Saturday.
